Earlier this week, well-known HTC ROM developer, @LlabTooFeR, twitted that the HTC 10 will be receiving Android 7.0 Nougat in the coming weeks, somewhere between late November and early December. According to the tweet, the rollout will begin in Europe, and while there’s no word on when users in the rest of the world can expect the update on their devices, it shouldn’t really take HTC too long to do that once the build is proven to be stable and without any critical bugs. Of course, HTC had already announced back in August that it will release the Android Nougat update for the HTC 10 in the fourth quarter of this year, so it looks like the Taiwanese firm is in line to fulfill its promise if the new reports are anything to go by.
As mentioned already, the earlier tweet from @LlabTooFer suggested that the Android Nougat update for the HTC 10 will arrive either later this month or in early December. Today, the MaximusHD ROM creator took to Twitter once again to reveal that the update is “getting close”. The latest build is apparently stable, so users can expect good news fairly soon. Of course, that’s not the only news @LlabTooFer had in store for us. What we also have are a number of screenshots that apparently show off the soon-to-be-rolled-out Android Nougat ROM running on the HTC 10. While the handful of images are not enough to tell a whole lot about the upcoming update, the Nougat version of Sense UI seemingly looks fairly similar to the Marshmallow version, but there’s now a ‘Night Mode’ option that’s available in the Quick Settings panel.
Either way, if you are the owner of an HTC 10, you’ll very likely have a pretty important update coming your way in the coming weeks. While the rollout will begin in Europe, users elsewhere should also receive the new software at some stage going forward. Meanwhile, the HTC 10 is not the only device from the Taiwanese company that’s slated to get the latest version of Android. The company has already announced that the One A9 and the One M9 will also receive the update, although there’s no official word on when that might happen. According to @LlabTooFer, however, the update for the One A9 is currently “under testing”.
