Video: Sony Showcases Android 7.0 Nougat Features

Some smartphone manufacturers have already started rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat update to their devices, and Sony is one of them. The company had announced that they’ve started rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat to the Xperia X Performance two days ago, and yesterday they added the Xperia XZ to that list as well, the company’s most powerful smartphone to date. Sony did mention a couple of new features that Android 7.0 Nougat brings, and now they released a video that showcases some of those features, read on.

If you take a look at the provided YouTube video, you’ll get to see the Sony Xperia XZ with Android 7.0 Nougat on it. Sony talks about various new additions to their Android skin following the Android 7.0 Nougat update. You can now swipe down on the home screen to search for apps and get other relevant recommendations, if you swipe from left to right, however, you’ll be able to access Google Now. Furthermore, Sony’s SMS ‘Messaging’ app gets quite a few new features, while the company also redesigned the app to an extent. The company is also showcasing the split-screen multitasking on the Sony Xperia XZ, and one of the features available while you’re in the split-screen mode, the ability to double-tap the overview (multitasking) button to switch to the previous app, which is also a Nougat feature.

In addition to all this, Sony also says that Android 7.0 Nougat update brings better battery life along with it thanks to Sony’s new ‘STAMINA’ features, and Google’s always-on Doze. The company’s native camera app was also updated, not only does it look much cleaner now, but Sony also added a selfie timer in it, and several other nifty features. At the very end of this video, Sony mentions a ton more new features that are coming along as part of the Android 7.0 Nougat update, like Bundled Notifications, System UI Tuner, Trusted Lockscreen… and so much more.
