Gionee Intros Big Battery A1 And A1 Plus Smartphones At MWC

Gionee has released a teaser for the Gionee A1 and Gionee A1 Plus MWC 2017 announcement a while back, which also served as their invite to the event. Well, the company has just introduced both of those smartphones in Barcelona, and we’re looking at rather capable mid-rangers here. These two smartphones are actually quite similar, but the Gionee A1 Plus is not only larger, but it’s also somewhat more powerful than its sibling. That being said, let’s take a closer look at these two phones and see what they have to offer, shall we.

The Gionee A1 sports a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) IPS display with a 2.5D curved glass on top of it, and Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The phone packs in 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable internal storage (expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card). This handset is fueled by the Helio P10 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz, which is manufactured by MediaTek. This is actually MediaTek’s mid-range processor, and it comes with the Mali-T860 GPU for graphics. A 13-megapixel shooter is placed on the back of the Gionee A1, while you’ll be able to find a 16-megapixel snapper on its front side, which is why it’s also referred to as the ‘selfie phone’. Android 7.0 Nougat comes pre-installed on the Gionee A1, and on top of it, you’ll be able to find Gionee’s Amigo OS skin. This handset comes with a 4,010mAh battery which is not removable, and it features a fingerprint scanner below the display. The Gionee A1 is made out of metal, in case you were wondering, and you do get two SIM card slots in this smartphone. The phone also has an IR blaster on the top, and offers 4G LTE connectivity. The Gionee A1 measures 166.4 x 83.3 x 9.1mm, and weighs 226 grams.

The Gionee A1 Plus, on the other hand, features a 6-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) panel, and comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable native storage, just like the Gionee A1. This handset is fueled by the Helio P25 64-bit octa-core processor, which is also MediaTek’s mid-range SoC, a successor to the Helio P10. The Gionee A1 Plus comes with a dual camera setup on the back, it features 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel shooters, while a 20-megapixel camera is placed on the front side of this smartphone. This phablet features a larger battery pack than its sibling, you’ll be able to find a 4,550mAh battery inside of the Gionee A1 Plus. Android 7.0 Nougat also comes pre-installed here, and this phablet is, much like the Gionee A1, made out of metal. Much like the Gionee A1, it also comes with a front-facing fingerprint scanner which is placed below its display, and offers dual SIM functionality. This handset measures 166.4 x 83.3 x 9.1mm, while it weighs 226 grams.
