Samsung continues to push Android 7.0 Nougat to some of its smartphones and the company’s latest efforts in Turkey have given us a roadmap listing the next handsets in the company’s portfolio to be planned for a software update. The list includes devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S7 series, as well as several smartphones in the Samsung Galaxy A lineup. Interestingly enough, all the products present in the roadmap are planned to receive Android 7.0 Nougat before the end of year, with at least one model – the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime – being planned for an update as late as November 2017.
Samsung Turkey’s roadmap includes two smartphone models previously set to receive Android 7.0 Nougat by the end of February – namely the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge – and sure enough, both smartphones have already received the Android 7.0 Nougat treatment earlier this month. Next in line is the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy s6 Edge, both of which appear to be in the testing phase for Android 7.0 Nougat, and both of which should receive the update on February 27. According to the roadmap, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 as well as the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ seem to be in the testing phase and should make the jump to Android 7.0 Nougat on March 6th and March 13th respectively. The rest of the smartphones present in the roadmap are listed as being “planned” for Android 7.0 Nougat, but they don’t seem to have been pushed through the testing phases just yet. This includes the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016), the Samsung Galaxy A8, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 (2016), as well as the original Samsung Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5, Galaxy A7, and Galaxy A8 launched in 2015. The aforementioned devices could receive the Android 7.0 Nougat treatment starting April and throughout July 2017.
It’s also worth noting that Samsung Turkey has prepared a second roadmap for the release of Android 7.0 Nougat on a handful of tablets. Thus, the operating system is currently undergoing testing on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 Refresh which could receive the public update in May 2017. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2, as well as the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (with and without S-Pen support) are also planned for Android 7.0 Nougat and could receive the update in May and July 2017 respectively. In closing, Samsung Turkey’s roadmap looks very promising, but it’s worth keeping in mind that timeframes for devices in the “planned” (Planlandı) category are subject to change. It should also be noted that some devices that have yet to go through the testing phase may or may not receive the update in the end.
