You can now check the weather on Gear VR with AccuWeather. The company has just officially announced that it’s launching a new Gear VR version of their popular AccuWeather app which will allow wearers of the headset to experience the weather forecast like never before. The official name of the new Gear VR application is AccuWeather – Weather For Life, and it will include much more than just the weather forecast, though checking up on weather information is no doubt going to be a widely used feature. In addition to weather details, the app will let you watch video content in 360-degrees to take advantage of the headset’s technology, and the app will even include weather updates.
When it comes to the video content AccuWeather states that it will include a range of different videos and that new videos will be added into the app on a weekly basis as they want to keep providing users with new content. Essentially, they don’t want users to be bored with what’s available so they’re committing to adding in new videos to watch consistently. Some of the already included video content revolves around major weather events, with one of the videos allowing users to get up close and personal with the Tornado that touched down in Wray, Colorado, giving those who enjoy storm footage a chance to experience a completely unique event in a way that they only could if they were there.
For those that aren’t necessarily intrigued by the 360 video content, they can utilize the app’s dynamic weather condition features which will immerse the user into a range of different severe weather conditions like thunderstorms and snow just to name a couple, and these can be accessed through the WeatherScape feature. The app will also deliver daily forecasts as well as weekly forecasts so you can simply put on the headset and hop into the app, then check the weather and go about your day. AccuWeather also notes that daily forecasts will be an additional location where users can experience the immersive feel of the severe weather conditions. Users who are interested in this app and own a Gear VR can already grab it from the Oculus Store once they put on the headset.
