MWC 2017: Hands-On With The Coolpad Cool S1

The Coolpad Cool S1 (also known as Cool Changer S1) was announced back in December last year. This is Coolpad’s flagship smartphone, it comes with a high-end set of specs and its body is made out of metal. That being said, the Coolpad Cool S1 is currently being shown off in Barcelona at MWC 2017, we’ve actually got the chance to use it for a bit, and while doing that, have snapped some images for you to take a look at, all of them are included in the gallery down below.

Coolpad is now owned by LeEco, and this smartphone resembles some of LeEco’s offerings in terms of the general design. The phone features a rear-facing fingerprint scanner, and three capacitive buttons below the display. Its power / lock, volume up and volume down buttons are clearly visible on the right, and the company’s logo lies on the back of the phone. This smartphone sports a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) IPS display, while it comes in both 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM variants. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 64-bit quad-core SoC fuels this smartphone, along with the Adreno 530 GPU. The 4GB RAM model offers 64GB of native storage, while the 6GB RAM variant features 128GB of storage. A 16-megapixel shooter can be found on the back of the Cool S1, and an 8-megapixel snapper is placed on the phone’s front side. Interestingly enough, this phone even packs in stereo speakers, which is always a nice addition to any smartphone.

The Coolpad Cool S1 ships with a beefy 4,070mAh battery which is not removable, while you do get access to Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology, which should top up this battery really fast. Despite the fact that the phone ships with a 4,070mAh battery, it’s only 7.5mm thick, and it comes in a Gold color variant only. Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the Cool S1, and on top of it, you’re getting EUI 5.8 skin, which is LeEco’s skin for Android devices. A Type-C USB port lies on the bottom of this phone, and there are two SIM card slots included in the package as well. All of our images are included in the gallery, so feel free to take a peek.
