Unlocked And T-Mobile's Galaxy J3 (2017) Visit The FCC

The Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) is seemingly close to being released as both the unlocked and T-Mobile variants of the device were certified by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) earlier this week. The devices are identified by model numbers ‘SM-J327U’ (Unlocked) and ‘SM-J327T’ (T-Mobile) and follow in the footsteps of the ‘SM-J327A’ variant that was previously spotted passing through both the Wi-Fi Alliance and the FCC.

Although the Galaxy J3 (2017) has yet to be officially introduced by the South Korean tech giant, the smartphone has been the subject of a variety of leaks and rumors for the past several months. During this period, the upcoming Galaxy J3 (2017) amassed approvals and certificates from regulatory agencies that certified various model numbers, indicating that the handset will likely enjoy a widespread release in the United States through multiple carriers and retail channels. Based on recent leaks, the Galaxy J3 (2017) is expected to carry a 5.0-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels and a pixel density of roughly 294 pixels per inch. It should also pack the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 System-on-Chip under the hood featuring eight ARM Cortex-A53 CPU cores and the Adreno 505 graphics chip, as well as 2GB of RAM along with 16GB or 32GB of internal memory expandable via a microSD card. The back of the phone is said to accommodate an 8-megapixel camera with an f/2.0 aperture, autofocus, and LED flash, whereas a 5-megapixel sensor with an f/2.2 aperture should reside on the front panel. Last but not least, the upcoming model appears to be running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, but this bit of detail could change by the time the smartphone hits the shelves.

Rumors also indicate that the Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) could also be released with Single-SIM and Dual-SIM capabilities and that it could be made available in three color options, namely white, black, and gold. It remains to be seen when Samsung will be ready to launch the smartphone in the United States, given that the company’s focus at this point in time is largely directed towards the Galaxy S8 launch. The Galaxy J3 (2017) is a part of an entire family of smartphones identified by the letter ‘J’ and will possibly be accompanied by the Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017) and Galaxy J7 (2017).
