The unlocked Moto G4 Plus (model number XT1644) is reportedly receiving the highly anticipated Android Nougat update in the United States. The software package weighs in at 741 MB and is currently distributed OTA (over-the-air). The latest update promises battery life improvements, advanced multitasking capabilities, and a more streamlined user interface, just to name a few.
The Android 7.0 Nougat update lands on the unlocked Moto G4 Plus in the United States following the Republic Wireless’ soak test earlier this month. The software package now seems to have passed the testing phase and is ready for a widespread public release. However, as is usually the case with new updates distributed over-the-air, the Android 7.0 Nougat update at hand will expand its reaches gradually until it will eventually land on every unlocked Moto G4 Plus in the US. In other words, the update notification might arrive earlier to some users than others, but every Moto G4 Plus owner in the US can try and trigger the update process manually from the phone’s settings menu under ‘About phone’ > ‘System updates’. Make sure your phone has at least 50% battery life left before proceeding with the update, and that the process will take place over an active Wi-Fi network in order to avoid slow download speeds or unnecessary charges.
