BlackBerry BBC100-1 Listed On Geekbench With 4GB Of RAM

The upcoming BlackBerry BBC100-1 smartphone appeared in the database of the Geekbench benchmarking tool earlier today, sporting specs that would put it in the mid-range segment of the market. The newly uncovered listing mostly corroborates the same details that were already reported about the device earlier this year, giving further credence to previous reports about the smartphone that’s reportedly codenamed “Aurora.” The BlackBerry BBC100-1 is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 system-on-chip featuring four cores clocked at 1.4GHz and will feature 4GB of RAM, in addition to running Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, though it remains to be seen whether its build of Google’s operating system will be mostly clean like the one featured on the BlackBerry KEYone is seeing how this particular model is reportedly manufactured by PT BB Merah Putih.

According to previous reports, the BlackBerry BBC100-1 will be released in Indonesia and there’s currently no word on whether the device will eventually make its way to other markets around the world, though that scenario doesn’t seem likely. The newly uncovered Geekbench listing doesn’t reveal any new details about the device, though previous rumors and some leaked images suggested that the BlackBerry BBC100-1 will sport a 5.5-inch display panel with a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels and be powered by a 3,000mAh battery that likely won’t be removable. On the imaging side of things, the device is expected to ship with a 13-megapixel rear sensor and an 8-megapixel front camera. Industry insiders previously claimed that the device will ship with dual SIM support, making it the first BlackBerry-branded smartphone to support that feature, though it remains to be seen whether those reports turn out to be true.

The upcoming smartphone is said to be available in Black, Silver, and Gold variants, all of which should be priced at approximately $260 in Indonesia, previous rumors have indicated. The launch of this handset will mark yet another step in BlackBerry’s ambitions to expand its market presence by licensing its established brand to third-party original equipment manufacturers. An update on the availability of the BlackBerry BBC100-1 will likely follow in the coming weeks.
