Motorola’s upcoming entry-level Moto C and Moto C Plus handsets were spotted in a certification database of the EAC, a state agency that fulfills a similar purpose to that of the FCC in the United States. The two smartphones, bearing the model numbers XT1750 and XT1754, were cleared by the regulatory agency, suggesting the products will be launched in the country in the near future.
Motorola’s Moto G and Moto E families were a big hit in the budget market and now the company is apparently looking to offer even more affordable options to customers. Rumors claim that the Moto C and Moto C Plus are going to be Motorola’s cheapest handsets to date aimed at first-time smartphone buyers, and their alleged specifications certainly seem to support that theory. According to recent reports, the Moto C will be a basic entry-level device coming with a 5-inch FWVGA display (854 x 480 resolution), while the Moto C Plus will feature a 5-inch or 5.2-inch display with 1280 x 720 resolution. The phones are supposed to be powered by two different MediaTek chipsets, industry sources said. The Moto C should be available in 3G and 4G versions, the first one being powered by a 32-bit 1.3GHz quad-core SoC, while the 4G one is said to have a 64-bit 1.1GHz quad-core SoC. As for the Moto C Plus, the phone will rely on a 64-bit CPU clocked at 1.3GHz, recent reports indicate.
The Moto C is expected to ship with 1GB of RAM, while its larger sibling is supposed to be available in variants with 1GB and 2GB of RAM, depending on the market, as well as 16GB of built-in storage. The Moto C’s base model will feature only 8GB of native storage, but a 16GB variant should also be made available and all versions will carry a microSD card slot. Regarding optics, the Moto C will offer a 5-megapixel main camera and a 2-megapixel secondary camera with flash. Some variations will also be encountered here, as the Moto C 3G is rumored to offer a fixed-focus back camera, while the 4G one should support autofocus, and the Moto C Plus is said to sport an 8-megapixel primary camera.
