Samsung had announced the company’s Q1 2017 financial results earlier today, and as we’ve talked about in our article, the company did really, really well in the first quarter of the year, but Samsung also confirmed a new flagship launch as part of their press release. Samsung said the following: “Against this backdrop, the company will strive to maintain profitability through robust sales of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ and the launch of a new flagship smartphone in the second half,” which is an obvious confirmation that the Galaxy Note 8 will launch later this year. It is possible, however, that Samsung might opt for a different name following the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco, but that’s highly unlikely.
Now, that is all the info that Samsung had to share with us regarding their upcoming flagship, but if last year is any indication, the Galaxy Note 8 will launch in August. It is, of course, possible that the company might move its launch event to September and announce the device at IFA, as they did in the past, but it is more likely that the company will hold a separate press event prior to IFA. Now, we do not have all that much info when it comes to the Galaxy Note 8, but the phone did leak a couple of times thus far, and chances are it will resemble the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus quite a bit. This essentially means that the Galaxy Note 8 will be made out of metal and glass, while its back and front sides will be curved. The display corners will be rounded, and the Galaxy Note 8 will, of course, ship with the S Pen stylus.
That being said, we’re still not sure what size will its display be, as the Galaxy S8 Plus comes with a 6.2-inch display, it would make sense for Samsung to release the Galaxy Note 8 with an even larger display, maybe a 6.4-inch one or something like that? In any case, there’s still plenty of time before the Galaxy Note 8 lands, and chances are we’ll see quite a few rumors and leaks before that happens, so some questions should be answered in the coming weeks / months.
