It seems like Samsung is working on yet another Exynos-branded processor for smartphones, the Exynos 9610. Now, this will be a mid-range processor, if the source is to be believed, and it should be a direct competitor to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 64-bit octa-core SoC. The Exynos 9610 will be manufactured using the 14nm processor, at least if the Weibo (Chinese social network) is to be believed.
Now, the source actually released some additional info regarding this chip, and it seems like we’re looking at an octa-core SoC. This chip will consist out of four Cortex-A73 cores, and four Cortex-A53 cores. The Mali-G72 MP3 GPU will be included in this package for graphics processing, and this processor will offer support for 4G LTE Cat. 13. Now, the source also revealed that this processor is expected to arrive in the fourth quarter of this year, which means there’s still plenty of time before we see it out in the market. It is possible that this will be the first Exynos 9XXX SoC to reach the market, the Exynos 8895 is the company’s series 9 chip, but its model number doesn’t exactly reflect that. That is pretty much all the info that we have regarding this SoC, as no benchmarking info got released, or anything of the sort, but we can expect such info to pop up in the coming months, so stay tuned.
The aforementioned Exynos 8895 SoC is actually Samsung’s 14nm 64-bit octa-core flagship processor which is fueling the company’s Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus flagships in a number of markets. The Exynos 8895 is actually on par with the Snapdragon 835, which makes it one of the most powerful mobile processors currently available in the market. Samsung is expected to announce several more entry-level and mid-range Exynos chips this year, alongside the Exynos 9610, like the Exynos 7872 which was mentioned quite recently. The Exynos 7872 is Samsung’s upcoming 64-bit 14nm hexa-core processor which will be inferior to the Exynos 9610 it seems, and will be used in the company’s entry-level and / or mid-range handsets. That’s pretty much all the available info, though chances are more information will come to light in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for that.
