The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus leaked as part of two new case renders from Olixar, with both devices being depicted with what appears to be Samsung’s popular Orchid Gray finish that was already rumored as making a return for the company’s new Android flagships. The images that can be seen in the gallery below also give more credence to previous reports that the smaller Galaxy S9 will be extremely similar to the Galaxy S8, up to the point that it won’t even feature a dual-camera setup like the Galaxy Note 8. Both handsets are shown as having a horizontal fingerprint sensor situated beneath their imaging systems instead of being positioned vertically to their right, with that particular spot on their back panels now being occupied by a dual-LED (dual-tone) flash unit and a heart rate monitor.
The overall front look of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus doesn’t seem to have changed much compared to Samsung’s 2017 pair of flagships, with the Infinity Display still being the center of the bezel-free aesthetic featuring a screen-to-body ratio of approximately 85 percent. A dedicated Bixby button is still shown as being part of the package, situated below the volume down key on the left edge of the handset when looked from the front. Both devices are rendered with single-lens front camera setups and appear to have corners that are more curved than those found on the Galaxy Note 8 but are still blockier than the Galaxy S8 series.
According to the vast majority of recent reports, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus will be aimed at refining the Galaxy S8 formula in order to convince even more consumers to switch to Samsung’s bezel-less mobile devices. The Chinese and U.S. variants of the handsets are said to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845, whereas the international models should feature Samsung’s own Exynos 9810 chipset. The Galaxy S9 is rumored to retain 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage space, whereas its larger counterpart should have a base of 6GB of RAM and be offered in variants spanning up to 512GB of Samsung-made internal flash memory. The handsets will officially debut on February 27th at MWC 2018, according to recent reports.
