LG Tribute DYNASTY Debuts On Boost At $59 & Coming To Sprint

Sprint‘s subsidiary Boost Mobile is now retailing the new LG Tribute DYNASTY, an Android smartphone designed to target price-conscious consumers, the company said Friday. Sprint itself will start selling the same device starting next Friday, January 12th. Originally spotted in an environmental rating certificate in late December, the same handset should also soon be offered by Virgin Mobile and is the third addition to the LG Tribute series which was last expanded in the summer of 2015 with the release of the LG Tribute 2.

The LG Tribute DYNASTY is still a largely entry-level handset but one that’s meant to offer a high value for money. It’s equipped with a 5.0-inch IPS LCD panel featuring a resolution of 1,280 by 720 pixels and a standard widescreen aspect ratio of 16:9. The device is powered by an unspecified MediaTek-made octa-core chip clocked at up to 1.5GHz and boasts 2GB of RAM, as well as 16GB of internal flash memory expandable by up to additional 32GB via a microSD card slot. A 2,500mAh battery is also part of the package and is said to be capable of easily lasting throughout the day on a single charge, mostly thanks to the compact, energy-efficient screen of the LG Tribute DYNASTY. The smartphone supports Sprint’s 3G, 4G, and 4G LTE networks, in addition to being ready for data roaming in Mexico. The newly announced entry-level offering runs Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box and is unlikely to ever receive an upgrade to Android 8.0 Oreo. The rear panel of the device accommodates an 8-megapixel camera, while its top bezel features a 5-megapixel sensor.

Boost Mobile is selling the LG Tribute DYNASTY for $99.99 plus tax, though the handset is presently available on a launch discount that brings its price down to $59.99, also not including tax. Consumers willing to switch to the wireless carrier will be able to get the smartphone for just $9.99, whereas Sprint will be offering it for $5 per month and $25 down on its Sprint Flex leasing plan spanning 18 months. The South Korean phone maker is rumored to be preparing to launch additional entry-level Android devices at the latest iteration of CES scheduled to start on Tuesday.
