Android-Powered ASUS ZenFone 5 Lite Leaks In Three Colors

A seemingly official render of the ASUS ZenFone 5 Lite series surfaced online on Saturday, having been shared by known industry insider Evan Blass. The image seen above is of the high-resolution variety and shows the device in three colors – black, white, and bright red. The source claims ASUS will advertise the colors as Midnight Black, Moonlight White, and Rogue Red. All three variants feature a metal unibody design with moderately rounded corners and somewhat thin bezels that are visibly slimmer than those on any member of the ZenFone 4 family but are still thicker than what one can find on ultra-premium handsets such as Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and LG’s V30.

The minimal bezels are coupled with an 18:9 display panel, with that particular combo still gaining traction in the mobile industry, allowing phone makers to deliver devices with enough screen real estate to compete in the phablet category while still having relatively compact form factors allowing for straightforward single-handed usage. Previous rumors suggested the ZenFone 5 Lite will boast a 6.0-inch panel with an FHD+ resolution of 2,160 by 1,080 pixels, though there’s still no consensus on the size of its screen among all credible industry insiders. The handset appears to sport four cameras in total, boasting a two-sensor system on both of its sides, as well as a circular fingerprint reader on its rear panel. Mr. Blass claims the main setup will entail two 16-megapixel sensors, whereas the top bezel of the handset will accommodate a couple of 20-megapixel modules.

The ZenFone 5 Lite has already been leaked on several occasions, having most recently starred in a real-life image that surfaced online earlier today. The handset is expected to have a Qualcomm-made chip and dual stereo speakers, as well as a USB Type-C port and at least 3GB of RAM. A 3.5mm headphone jack reportedly won’t be part of the package, though ASUS may bundle the ZenFone 5 Lite with a dongle allowing users to connect traditional headphones to the USB port of the Android-powered smartphone. The device and other members of the ZenFone 5 family are expected to be announced late this month at Barcelona, Spain-based MWC 2018.
