Samsung’s official protective cases for the Galaxy S9 are already available for purchase, ten days before the upcoming pair of Android flagships is scheduled to even be announced. The accessories were prematurely listed by consumer electronics retailer Mobile Fun who has a history of such moves which likely aren’t accidental. No first-party cases for the larger Galaxy S9 Plus have yet been made available by the retailer, whereas the ones meant to protect the smaller Galaxy S9 are offered for between $28.99 and $64.49, depending on the model. All of the newly unveiled products have already been leaked by another source earlier this week, confirming Samsung will be revisiting the majority of protective cases launched for the Galaxy S8 lineup, with one new addition coming in the form of the Hyperknit Cover that’s presently only available in red.
The new case renders seen in the gallery below also reiterate on a multitude of previous leaks, rumors, and reports about Samsung’s next Android-powered flagship, suggesting the 5.8-inch Galaxy S9 will retain the single-camera setup of its predecessor but orientate and reposition its rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, situating it below the imaging system, presumably so as to make it easier to reach. The area previously occupied by the fingerprint reader is now taken by a dual-LED flash and a heart rate monitor, as was the case with the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. All of Samsung’s transparent cases will also complement the always-on display feature of the Galaxy S9, allowing it to continue showing you the time even when the smartphone is covered, as suggested by the same renders.
The protective cases for the Galaxy S9 Plus will presumably be somewhat more expensive, with their pricing being expected to vary across markets. Samsung is scheduled to officially announce its next pair of ultra-premium mobile devices on February 25 and should be extensively showcasing them at Barcelona, Spain-based Mobile World Congress before making them available for pre-orders in early March, possibly even before the annual trade show is wrapped up. Recent reports suggested the Korean phone maker may raise the prices of its first 2018 offerings by approximately $100 compared to their predecessors across all markets.
