Lifesaving supply drops in Fortnite are great, but a real-life supply drop can be even better, as famous Fortnite streamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins discovered when Samsung left one at his door. The massive box had a cel-shaded look and looked worn, true to the game it was inspired by. Inside, Ninja found a Samsung Galaxy Note 9, along with a number of relevant extras. This also gave him the honor of being among the first to use the special Galaxy skin available to Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy Tab S4 buyers, which won’t be available to the public until this Friday.
Ninja’s special supply drop included the phone, a custom case for it, the AKG headphones you can get as a pre-order bonus as of this writing, a special commemorative plaque, a large framed photo of the Galaxy skin in question, and finally, Ninja’s very own Fortnite character sheet. Once the Galaxy Note 9 officially ships out this Friday, people who buy one of the two eligible Samsung-made devices can go into Fortnite’s in-game store to get the unique Galaxy skin for free. It’s not available for purchase, and can only be obtained by playing the game on a Galaxy Note 9 or Galaxy Tab S4.
Samsung’s new Galaxy Note 9 is well-suited for intense mobile gaming thanks to its colossal screen, blazing-fast Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor (or Exynos 9810), and innovative water-carbon cooling system. With this PR stunt, it seems Samsung is emphasizing the new phone’s gaming chops in the biggest way possible. More casual gamers, productivity aficionados, creative types and casual users alike should also find a lot to love here. The S Pen in the Galaxy Note 9 sports a ton of new features, the display is literally the best you can get on a smartphone right now, and the new cooling system will mean longer battery life when performing more intensive tasks that would normally drain batteries and throttle down processors in other phones. If you preorder the phone before it officially drops tomorrow, you can also score either the AKG headphones seen in this video or 15,000 V-Bucks for Fortnite, the equivalent of about $150 of in-game purchases. Those who want both can simply throw in an extra $99 with their pre-order and still save a lot of money.
