Samsung Galaxy A40 Leaks With Two Rear Cameras, Tiny Notch

German publication, WinFuture,  shared render images of the Samsung Galaxy A40, one of the smartphones that Samsung Electronics may launch as part of its mid-range Galaxy A handset lineup.

These renders show that the handset will sport a single front-facing camera housed inside a U-shaped notch above the display, suggesting that the Galaxy A40 will feature the Infinity-U design language while thin bezels surround the panel. Meanwhile, the rear panel of the smartphone features a shiny plastic build and a dual rear camera setup placed in the top-left.

Directly below the two cameras is the LED flash, and the back panel also contains the rear-mounted fingerprint reader. Meanwhile, the right side of the handset includes the power button and the volume rocker, and the bottom of the Galaxy A40 houses the USB Type-C port, the 3.5mm headphone jack, and the grills for the loudspeaker. Leaked info suggests that there will be four color options for the Galaxy A40, namely black, blue, coral, and white.

Aside from providing information about the design of the handset, the leak also supplied some details about the specifications of the Galaxy A40. According to rumors, the smartphone will sport a 5.7-inch display, although there is no available information about the resolution and aspect ratio of the screen.

The latest report also corroborates previous leaks, which claim that the device will sport the Exynos 7885 chipset, an SoC that features an octa-core CPU running at a maximum clock speed of 2.2GHz and the Mali-G71 MP2 GPU. The article also states that the Galaxy A40 will ship with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal flash storage and that a 4,000mAh battery will power the handset.

Samsung will reportedly price the handset at €249, which translates to $283 at the current exchange rate, and the handset will likely ship with Android 9 Pie pre-installed, with Samsung’s proprietary skin One UI running on top of Google’s operating system.

Samsung has announced on its official Twitter account that it will launch several Galaxy A devices on April 10, and it is likely that the Galaxy A40 is one of the handsets that the company will unveil on that day. Aside from the Galaxy A40, the handset maker may also launch the Galaxy A60 and the Galaxy A70 during the event.

Given Samsung’s new naming convention for its mid-range and entry-level handsets, the Galaxy A60 and the A70 are expected to feature more powerful internals and more premium hardware compared to the Galaxy A40. For example, recent leaks state that both devices will feature in-display fingerprint sensors and a larger 6.7-inch screen. Furthermore, both devices will sport at least 6GB of RAM, and rumors claim that the Galaxy A70 will have 64GB of flash storage and the Galaxy A60 will include 128GB of internal flash storage.

Based on recent rumors, the Galaxy A40 will be a device using which Samsung will cater to cost-sensitive markets. More information about the smartphone will likely become available during Samsung’s launch event on April 10th.
