Both the Wi-Fi Alliance and Bluetooth SIG recently certified the Samsung Galaxy A20e, one of the upcoming mid-range smartphone offerings from Samsung Electronics. The certifications issued by the two groups show that the Galaxy A20e will feature support for Bluetooth 5.0, and unlike other mid-range smartphones from Samsung that support dual-band Wi-Fi, the Galaxy A20e can only connect to Wi-Fi networks running on 2.4GHz frequency.
Units tested by both certifying agencies have the model number SM-A202F/DS, which suggests that there will be a dual SIM variant of the Galaxy A20e, while the certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance shows that the handset will ship with Android 9 Pie pre-installed. However, users should expect that Samsung’s proprietary skin, One UI, will run on top of Google’s operating system.
There is little information available about the specifications and design of the Galaxy A20e, although the name suggests that the handset will feature less impressive hardware compared to the Galaxy A20, which Samsung launched in Russia earlier this month.
A recent report cited a listing on the website of benchmarking application Geekbench, which suggests that the Galaxy A20e will feature the Exynos 7884 SoC and 3GB of RAM. While this benchmark result shows that the Galaxy A20e and the Galaxy A20 will have the same chipset and RAM capacity, the two handsets will likely differ in other hardware specifications.
However, it is possible that users may see in the Galaxy A20e some of the design features found in the Galaxy A20. For example, the Galaxy A20e may also sport the Infinity-V display found in the Galaxy A20, which includes a small waterdrop-shaped notch above the handset’s display.
Furthermore, consumers who will purchase the Galaxy A20e can take advantage of the software features offered by both Android 9 Pie and Samsung’s proprietary skin One UI, which include system-wide dark mode, redesigned user interface, and AI-powered functionalities that improve the device’s battery life.
Samsung will likely unveil the Galaxy A20e in the launch event that will take place on April 10th. Aside from the Galaxy A20e, the South Korean tech giant will launch several other handsets during the event. These handsets may include the Galaxy A40, the Galaxy A60, and the Galaxy A70.
Rumors claim that both the Galaxy A60 and the A70 will feature a 6.7-inch display. However, the Galaxy A60 will sport a 4,500mAh battery, 128GB of internal flash storage, and either 6GB or 8GB of RAM. On the other hand, the Galaxy A70 will reportedly ship with a slightly smaller 4,400mAh battery, 64GB of flash storage, and 6GB of RAM. Meanwhile, recent reports claim that the Galaxy A40 will sport the Exynos 7885 chipset and 4GB of RAM.
Certification of the Galaxy A20e by the Wi-Fi Alliance and Bluetooth SIG hints that Samsung may launch the handset within the next few weeks. While it is likely that the handset will share several features and specifications with the recently-launched Galaxy A20, more details about the differences between the two handsets will likely become available once Samsung officially announces the smartphone.
