Verizon’s CEO, Hands Vestberg, confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy Note10 will support 5G. This confirmation came during the company’s Q1 2019 earnings call, as Mr. Vestberg said: “The Note and the Galaxy coming this year will both have 5G”, while he also pointed out that Verizon also has a 5G-enabled LG smartphone for the race, and he’s probably referring to the LG V50 ThinQ 5G.
This doesn’t really come as a surprise, as the 5G variant of the Galaxy S10 was announced by Samsung, so it was safe to assume that the same will happen with the Galaxy Note10 later this year. Various rumors also pointed out that we’ll see a 5G variant of the Galaxy Note10, in fact, those rumors suggest that we’ll see two 5G Galaxy Note10 variants.
Samsung is rumored to announce two different Galaxy Note10’s, one with a smaller display, and one with a larger panel. The larger Galaxy Note10 will probably also have some other benefit over the smaller one, and rumors claim that both of them will available in both 4G and 5G variants.
Now, if rumors are to be believed, the smaller Galaxy Note10 will be called the “Galaxy Note10”, while the larger one will ship with the “Galaxy Note10 Pro” branding. This would be somewhat surprising on Samsung’s part, as the Galaxy S10e, S10, S10+, and S10 5G were announced by the company, so it would make more sense for the more powerful Galaxy Note10 variant to be called the Galaxy Note10+, not the Galaxy Note 10 Pro, but there you have it.
The Galaxy Note10 is expected to sport a 6.28-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED display, while the Galaxy Note10 Pro will include a 6.75-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED panel, if rumors are to be believed. The same goes for both 4G and 5G variants of both devices, as the two will probably be completely identical, save for the 5G connectivity.
The larger Galaxy Note10 unit is also rumored to sport more cameras than the regular one, four compared to three, though that rumor surfaced at the beginning of this month when the two phones were rumored to be called the Galaxy Note10e and Galaxy Note10, instead of the Galaxy Note10 and Galaxy Note 10 Pro. That is still a possibility, though, but the Galaxy Note10 Pro name surfaced more times than the Galaxy Note10e, and it kind of makes more sense, but we’ll see.
All Galaxy Note10 variants will ship with Android 9 Pie out of the box, and Samsung’s One UI Android overlay on top of it. The Galaxy Note10 series will probably land in August, one year after the Galaxy Note9 launched. Samsung will almost certainly plan to launch the Galaxy Note10 series before IFA in Berlin kicks off, as the company did that the last couple of years. There are a number of reasons for that, but the most important one is probably the fact that the company can organize a separate event and get all the attention. Samsung actually did something similar with the Galaxy S10 series and the Galaxy Fold back in February, as it launched all of those phones prior to MWC 2019.
