The Galaxy Note10 series is going to be announced next week, but that isn’t stopping many leaks from surfacing about the new smartphones. We’ve already seen the Galaxy Note10 shown off in a new color, and now we’re learning a bit more about the specs of both devices.
According to Ishan Agarwal on Twitter, both of the Galaxy Note10 smartphones will have “the Super Fast Wireless and Wired Charging”. They both also get a new water resistance rating at IP69, and the main camera sensor is going to be 12-megapixel with an aperture of f/1.5. That’s the widest aperture we’ve seen on a phone – hardware-wise.
Agarwal also confirmed previous rumors, that the Galaxy Note10 has a Full HD+ display and the Galaxy Note10+ has a QuadHD+ display.
Some good news and some bad news here. Obviously, the screen resolution is not something that many of us were hoping to hear. But that should help make the price difference between the two devices a bit larger. Seeing as they do have many of the same specs and features still.
Perhaps the best part of this is the faster wired and wireless charging coming to both devices. Samsung has not upgraded its Adaptive Fast Charge since around the Galaxy S6. That was, a very long time ago. Meanwhile companies like Qualcomm, OnePlus and others have more than doubled their charging speeds. And with Samsung putting in larger and larger batteries, we definitely need some faster chargers.
The rumor has been that the Galaxy Note10 will get a 25W charger in the box and the Galaxy Note10+ gets a 45W charger in the box, but both will support 45W charging speeds. That’s pretty insane. Just to give you some perspective, most smartphones that can do fast charging over USB-C PD, are limited to about 18W. And 13-inch MacBook Pros are charging at 60W. So you’re getting closer to a laptop charging speed here, which is pretty insane.
Samsung has been doing some amazing things with cameras in the past few years. From the variable aperture on the Galaxy S9 last year, to the triple-camera on the Galaxy S10 earlier this year. We’re always interested to see what Samsung might do next. This time, it’s giving us a wider aperture. At f/1.5. That beats the previous widest aperture, which was held by LG (for a couple of years actually) at f/1.6.
This wider aperture means that you’re going to be able to get more light into the shot, so that those night shots won’t look as terrible as they would if it were a f/2.0 lens. And with the dedicated Night Mode now on Samsung smartphones, that’s going to make a huge difference.
There are still a few question marks surrounding the Galaxy Note10 and Galaxy Note10+. And at this rate, we’ll likely have those answered before August 7, when Samsung officially announces these new smartphones. Either way, August 7 is shaping up to be a pretty exciting day for smartphone enthusiasts. With the next Galaxy Note being announced.
