Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 10+ has now been spotted in a real-world video on the Chinese social media site Weibo (you can watch the video by clicking this link). The device is said to have been captured on a subway and appears to be a prototype.
The most obvious indicator of that is the gadget’s screen. The screen is entirely flat in the leaked footage instead of curved like it is in every leaked render to-date. That includes leaks from the renders of the device to those showcasing the protective cases that will be sold for it.
No S Pen is highlighted in the clip either. That most likely wasn’t included with the test device for a few reasons. The biggest of those probably relates to this test apparently centering around user-experience with the OS itself. The user in the video is seen navigating icons on the home-screen, watching a video, and interacting with sub-menus related to the media playback.
Aspects that mark this out as a Galaxy Note 10+
Despite its shape, the device in question does bear some hallmark characteristics of the still-unannounced flagship phablet.
To begin with, the suspected Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ features the same home screen wallpaper as has been shown in renders. The bezels surrounding the display aren’t likely accurate but are nearly as slim as expected. The hole-punch camera sits exactly where it’s expected to be. That’s right at the top and centered on the screen.
Samsung Android 9 Pie overlay, OneUI, appears to be intact too. That’s arguably going to be a good thing because the device appears almost too large to use for the individual in the video. With Samsung OneUI, nearly all of the interactive elements are kept well within thumbs reach.
Physical hardware buttons are on the left, as has been shown in purported final renders of the South Korean OEM’s flagship phablet. The placement of the keys makes them look moderately awkward to use in the clip. Those should — hopefully — be made fairly easy to access once curves are in place on the final device.
Just days until all the leaks are confirmed… or not
Samsung is expected to be launching the next-generation iteration of its Galaxy Note line in just a couple of days on August 7 at its annual Unpacked hardware event. Rumors and leaks up to this point can fill in a few more suspected details, however.
Specifics about the cameras on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ are still vague but rumors have suggested those will be 16-megapixel and 12-megapixel snappers. Based on previous reports, the selfie camera on the front will be offset at the back by no fewer than four sensors. Those include the standard, wide-angle, and zoom lenses as well as a time-of-flight depth sensor.
The display itself is expected to fall in at 6.75-inches with QHD+ resolution. That will be built on Samsung’s “Dynamic” AMOLED display technology.
Inside of the device, Samsung is expected to include either a Snapdragon 855 SoC or an in-house chip — specifically the Exynos 9820 or 9825 chipset. Either 8GB or 12GB RAM are predicted to back that up, accompanied by 256GB storage. A 4,500mAh battery will reportedly power the package with charging at above 25W and up to 45W wired charging.
