It has been rumored for quite some time, but now we have confirmation that the OPPO Find X2 will be announced just days before MWC in Barcelona.
OPPO is inviting press to an event on February 22 in Barcelona, where it will unveil the Find X2. It is using the tagline “Uncover the Ultimate” in the invitation. Though we aren’t too sure what that actually means.
The event will kick off at 2PM CEST on February 22. For those of us in the US, that’s 8AM EST, and 5AM PST.
OPPO is using a custom Sony image sensor in the Find X2
OPPO and Sony have once again come together to customize a flagship sensor that will be inside the Find X2. It will also be the first one to support All Pixel Omni-directional PDAF technology. That’s going to provide you with outstanding performance in light sensitivity and focusing performance.
Basically, expect the OPPO Find X2 to have a pretty incredible camera. And considering how well OPPO has been doing with cameras lately, especially on the Reno brand of smartphones, that means a lot.
With its Reno smartphones, it has been focusing on doing some insane optical zoom in a smartphone, like the OPPO Reno 10X Zoom it showed off last year at the same event. So what the Find X2 is capable of is truly going to be incredible.
On top of that, the company focused a lot on improving the screen quality and performance, with the Find X2. The predecessor was an all-screen smartphone, with a motorized sliding camera for the front-facing camera. Which was pretty revolutionary for the time, so only time will tell what OPPO does with the Find X2. But considering it focused greatly on improving the screen quality and experience, it’s bound to be good.
It’s 2020, so of course it’ll be a 5G phone
The OPPO Find X2 is also going to be a 5G smartphone and use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865.
We expect most smartphones announced later this month to sport the Snapdragon 865 chipset too, seeing as that is the latest and greatest from Qualcomm – the leader in mobile chipsets.
But we do know that this smartphone is going to be a powerhouse, and based on the leaks we’ve seen for the Find X2, we’re already drooling over it.
We will know everything there is to know about the Find X2 come February 22. The OPPO Find X2 will likely be the first announcement for MWC Barcelona.
