Arlo's New Video Doorbell Goes Wire-Free

Arlo has just announced a brand new video doorbell, and it’s now wire-free. Like the majority of its security cameras. It’s the Arlo Wire-Free Video Doorbell.

One of the biggest complaints about the original video doorbell, was the fact that it was not wire-free, and consumers had to run wiring to the doorbell. Which makes installation a bit trickier. But that option is still here, if you do want to hard-wire it into your home.

Arlo also improved the video doorbell in a number of other areas, with this second-generation model.

Comes with a built-in smart siren

Among the many new features included in the Arlo Wire-Free Video Doorbell, is a built-in smart siren. This is going to trigger automatically or manually from the Arlo app during an event. This can be configured within the app, so it only triggers when you want it to, instead of every time it sees a leaf blow by. Which will happen a lot with fall upon us.

It still has that incredible 180-degree viewing angle for the camera. And it has a 1:1 aspect ratio, allowing you to see someone from head to toe. And even see a package on the ground in front of your door.

The Arlo Wire-Free Video Doorbell does come with an angle mount this time, so you can easily adjust the viewing angle to fully and clearly see visitors.

As always, Arlo will provide you with motion detection and alerts to your phone. So you can see when someone is at your home. And there’s a silent mode now, to temporarily disable incoming calls. Arlo Chime melodies and traditional chime rings will also be silent.

You’ll also get notifications that matter. The Video Doorbell will alert you to people, vehicles, animals or a package with Arlo Smart. Which is a subscription service that offers 30-day cloud recordings. And you get a three-month free trial to this service.

Pricing & Availability

The Arlo Wire-Free Video Doorbell is going to cost you $200. That’s not too bad, considering Ring’s video doorbells go for about that same price. But it is a nice bump from the $150 that the original cost.

Pre-orders are opening up today, and the new video doorbell will be available at some point this holiday season. Arlo has not given us a firm date as to when you’ll be able to buy it. But it will likely be before Black Friday.
