Here's The Display Specs Of The OnePlus 8T

OnePlus announced yesterday that the company would be announcing the 8T officially on October 14. And now the company is starting to announce some of the specs and features of the device, before the big reveal.

OnePlus told TechRadar the display specs for the new smartphone, and they are pretty much what we expected to see on a OnePlus 8T.

OnePlus 8T will have a 6.55-inch display at 120Hz

The OnePlus 8T is going to sport a 6.55-inch display, making it the same size as the OnePlus 8. But it gets bumped up to 120Hz from 90Hz. Remember there’s no OnePlus 8T Pro this time around, so there’s no real point in comparing it to the OnePlus 8 Pro.

Aside from that, this display covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color space, and can get up to a max brightness of 1,100 nits. Basically, it can get super bright, and that’s going to come in clutch when you’re outside. The screen-to-body ratio is now 91.9%. Finally, this display is a 2.5D flexible display.

According to Pete Lau, who spoke with TechRadar, the 2.5D flexible screen “offers an improved light permeability and can reach maximum brightness of up to 1,100 nits.” That should result in a really great looking and bright display.

OnePlus also noted that the OnePlus 8T has already gone through DisplayMate’s rigorous display tests and it achieved an overall rating of A+. Which is also the same rating as the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, OnePlus 8 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max.

What about the rest of the spec sheet?

OnePlus hasn’t confirmed most of the other specs of the device just yet. But considering we know what OnePlus aims for with its high-end smartphones, we can pretty much predict what specs will be in the OnePlus 8T.

It’ll likely sport the Snapdragon 865+, as well as 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. In fact, according to a leak that came out this morning, the 8GB/128GB model is going to cost around €599. Which is very competitive, almost too competitive, considering the OnePlus Nord is close to that price as well.

OnePlus will likely confirm a lot of these other specs with other publications ahead of the release on October 14. As that seems to be OnePlus’ new marketing strategy, to give different publications “exclusives” on different aspects of their upcoming devices. And considering their customer base, that’s a really smart way to drum up some hype for its new smartphones.
