Samsung has announced the price and availability details for the Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G in India. The new Galaxy foldable is now up for pre-orders in the country. Samsung is charging Indian consumers Rs 149,999 (around $2,040) for the device.
It comes in Mystic Black and Mystic Bronze colors in India, or anywhere else for that matter. It’s unclear if the company will let Indian consumers select a custom color for the hinge, though. In some markets, Samsung lets customers select either Metallic Silver, Red, Blue, or Gold color for the hinge at no additional cost.
The Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G will be available for pre-order at all leading retailers across the nation, including Samsung’s own Experience Stores as well as its e-store. The company has yet to announce when the device will start shipping for the pre-order customers. There’s no communication yet regarding the ending of the pre-order period either. The handset goes on sale in several international markets on September 18th.
Samsung also offers a Thom Browne Edition of the Galaxy Z Fold 2. However, it’s unlikely to come to India. The $3,299-priced special edition phone will hit the stores in select markets on September 25th.
India price for Galaxy Z Fold 2 revealed
India is a highly price-sensitive market and Samsung has done really well by pricing the Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G aggressively in the region. The Rs 149,999 price tag even beats the industry expectations. However, aggressive pricing means Indian consumers aren’t getting any freebies with it.
The Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G pre-order offers in India include four months of free YouTube Premium and a 22-percent discount on Microsoft office 365. If you place your pre-order through one of Samsung’s Experience Stores or at Samsung.com, you’re also entitled to a 12-month, interest-free EMI financing.
This ultra-premium smartphone also comes with Samsung’s specialized customer care services. The Galaxy Z Concierge program, which consists of trained Galaxy Z-series experts, will assist customers 24/7. And with Samsung Care+ protection, Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G customers can avail accidental or liquid damage protection for their phone upon payment of a one-time deductible fee. Customers need to register for Samsung Care+ within 30 days of purchase, and it covers a one-time repair of parts.
Interestingly, Samsung is adding a ‘5G’ moniker at the end of the Galaxy Z Fold 2’s name in India. And that’s because it’s one of the first 5G-capable phones sold in the country. The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is the only other 5G-enabled Samsung smartphone currently available in India. Commercial 5G networks are yet to roll out in the world’s second-most populous country. India is also the second-largest smartphone market globally.
