European Galaxy S21 May Not Get A Charger, Earphones & Case In The Box

Rumors are rife that the Samsung Galaxy S21 series would come without a charger in the box, at least in some regions. And that seems highly likely as yet another report has now supported those claims.

The ever-reliable Roland Quandt has claimed that Samsung has no plans to include a charger with its upcoming flagship smartphones in Europe. All three models – the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and the S21 Ultra – would miss out on an in-box power brick.

Moreover, Roland also confirms that the Galaxy S21 series won’t get a pair earphones in the box either. There will be no protective case as well, at least in the European markets.

Galaxy S21 won’t get a charger, earphones or case in the box

Earlier this month, a regulatory certification listing for the Galaxy S21 series in Brazil suggested that Samsung is planning to ship its upcoming flagships without a charging adapter in the box, at least in the South American country. Now it appears some European markets would not get the power brick either.

Samsung may still offer a charger with the Galaxy S21 series in some markets though. It would likely be a 25W power brick with a USB Type-C to Type-C cable. This charging cable should be included in the box in every region.

A report coming from South Korea earlier this week, meanwhile, revealed that Samsung is developing a 30W fast charger for its smartphones. The new charger would reportedly cost lower than the existing 25W charger as it comes without the USB Type-C cable. Samsung also already sells a 45W charger.

Interestingly, Samsung was one of the first companies to mock Apple after the company announced that the iPhone 12 series will ship without a charger in the box. Now, mere months after mocking the Cupertino-based iPhone maker, Samsung seems to be following the same route.

Apple said it made this decision for environmental purposes, although there haven’t been any revision of the price. It now remains to be seen if Samsung passes any monetary benefit to consumers.

Samsung removing the earphones from the box doesn’t come as a surprise though. The Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 series came without a pair of AKG earphones in the US. However, the Korean giant shipped a pair to customers who asked for it, at no additional cost. It’s unclear if Samsung will offer the same generosity to the Galaxy S21 buyers as well.
