Beats Studio Buds Get More Color Options, New Feature On Android

Beats has announced three new color variants of its Studio Buds TWS (true wireless) earbuds. The compact earphones pair announced last summer are now available in Ocean Blue, Moon Gray, and Sunset Pink colors. This is in addition to the existing Beats Red, Black, and White options. Beats isn’t making any changes to the pricing though. The Studio Buds still cost $149.99.

The new color options for the Beats Studio Buds are now available from the company’s website. But if you’re looking to grab one of the added options from third-party retailers, you aren’t getting them all in one place. The Apple-owned brand is selling the Ocean Blue variant at Best Buy, Moon Gray at Amazon, and Sunset Pink at Target.

Launched in June 2021, the Studio Buds are Beats’ second pair of TWS earbuds after the Powerbeats Pro in 2019. These are compact offerings without any ear hooks or stems. Less than a year into the market, the company says the Studio Buds have become “the fastest-selling Beats product to date, globally.”

Beats also adds new features to its Android app

With the launch of the Studio Buds last year, Beats significantly improved its Android compatibility. These are the company’s first products to support Google’s Fast Pair. Android smartphones automatically detect the earbuds when they are turned on, allowing you to quickly connect to them. The Beats Studio Buds also support the Find My Device feature.

Now, the company is adding a “Locate My Beats” feature to its app. This allows you to locate your Beats earbuds should you ever misplace them. This feature should work with any Beats wearables that support the Beats app on Android.

The Beats app also now lets you can add a widget to your home screen. This widget will give you quick access to the battery level of your earbuds. You can also quickly switch between different listening modes such as ANC (active noise canceling) and Transparency. Unfortunately, the Beats Studio Buds don’t offer Google Assistant voice control. They are only compatible with Siri on iOS devices. If you’re pairing the earbuds with an Android smartphone, you can’t go hands-free.

Nonetheless, the Studio Buds are a decent pair of TWS earbuds at $149.99. The buds feature 8.2-millimeter drivers with a customized acoustic platform for immersive sound quality. You also get high-quality audio with dual beam-forming mics, IPX4 water resistance, up to eight hours of battery life (24 hours with case), and fast charging support.
