According to a fresh new tip, the iPhone 15 Pro Max will include a variable zoom camera. This information comes from Revegnus, a tipster some of you may be familiar with.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max may end up offering a variable zoom camera
If that sounds familiar, well, it’s because the Galaxy S24 Ultra is tipped to do the same. A recent rumor hinted that Samsung’s upcoming flagship could combine two of its zoom cameras into one, basically.
What does this mean, exactly? Well, a variable zoom camera basically allows the phone to jump between two focal lengths. That camera system has two moving glass pieces, and it allows for the phone to move between different zoom levels. The Xperia 1 III is a great example, actually.
If Apple ends up implementing this, it’ll definitely improve its telephoto camera offering. The iPhone 15 Pro Max/Ultra will be able to offer better telephoto images, essentially.
The phone will utilize the same camera sensors as its predecessor
The phone will retain the same image sensors as its predecessor, though, according to the tipster. That is not surprising at all, this is Apple after all. That means we’ll get a 48-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultrawide unit, and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera.
Some of you are probably wondering whether the iPhone 15 Pro will get this variable zoom camera too. Well, your guess is as good as ours. The tipster did specifically mention the iPhone 15 Pro Max, though.
It’s easily possible Apple will offer it only on the Pro Max model, which will probably bother some users. The iPhone Pro models were on the same playing field thus far. They only had different display sizes and therefore battery capacities, everything else was the same. The smaller ‘Pro’ iPhone did not lose any features.
If Apple ends up including this camera tech in the iPhone 15 Pro Max, and not the smaller ‘Pro’ model, well… it’ll change its philosophy thus far, and kill the balance between the two devices. All iPhone 15 phones are expected to launch in September.
