Huawei is expected to become the first company to announce a tri-fold smartphone. Well, that tri-fold foldable smartphone has now been spotted in the hands of Richard Yu, the company’s chairman.
Huawei’s first tri-fold device has been spotted in the hands of the company’s chairman
If you check out the two images below, you’ll see Richard Yu using the device. The second image is only a cropped part of the first one, to give you a better look at the device itself.
The company’s chairman seems to be using the device on a flight. This handset is actually similar to the R&D prototype, says Digital Chat Station. The tipster confirmed that much via Weibo.
Now, you’ll notice that the device has two creases on it, which is expected as it folds in two separate spots. A punch hole is located in the left section, and the device seems to be placed in a case of some sort. That’s why it looks thicker than you’d think.
It will likely have a 10-inch display or one close to that size
This device is expected to have a display that is around 10 inches in size. It’s also said to be fueled by a Kirin 9-series chip, one of Huawei’s newest processors. It could actually use the same processor as the upcoming Huawei Mate 70, a 5nm chip.
The latest information claims that the device will support ‘PC-level’ apps. It is expected to arrive before the Huawei Mate 70 series, at least based on the information from Digital Chat Station. That means that we’ll probably see it in the fourth quarter of this year.
There is a chance Huawei will further postpone its launch, of course. The company still hasn’t teased anything officially, so anything is possible. There’s also a good chance this device will stay exclusive to China. We’re only guessing, though.
