The Google Chromecast (2015) was introduced in September 2015. This is the second generation of Google Chromecast device, the first generation model was released in July 2013. It took Google over two years to introduce the second-gen product, and the company certainly managed to improve and refine the device in that time period. The second-gen model comes with a small length of HDMI cable already attached to the device (1.75m), while the original only came with the HDMI plug built into it. The device is fueled by the Marvell Armada 1500 Mini Plus 88DE3006 SoC, which has dual ARM Cortex-A7 chips included, and it runs on 1.2GHz. The Google Chromecast (2015) comes with an improved Wi-Fi performance, and offers support for 802.11ac and 5GHz bands, while it also contains three adaptive antennas for better connection to home routers. This device also boasts 512MB of DDR3L RAM and 256MB of flash storage. The second-gen Chromecast measures 51.9 x 51.9 x 13.9mm, in case you were wondering, and it comes in three different color options, Black, Lemonade and Coral. The device is actually priced the same as its predecessor, its price, at launch, was $35 in the US, and £30 in the UK.

The second-gen Google Chromecast is much refined than its predecessor, and yet it costs just as much. This device is well-worth the asking price, this device allows you to cast pretty much anything you want on your TV, all you need is an HDMI port and you're good. It will be interesting to see what will Google do with the next iteration of this device, but they sure did a good job this time around. If you're looking for a simple and yet powerful casting device, you can't go wrong with Google Chromecast (2015).
