3D Mock-up Based on HTC One 2 Rumored Specs Surfaces Online

HTC has been trying to make a push back in to relevance this year. The HTC One is still one of the best smartphones available, even nine months after it was released. HTC’s sales numbers don’t reflect the growth they were expecting, but the company is still pushing to get back on consumers collective radar. The HTC One 2 is the next HTC flagship Android phone, expected to drop sometime in the first half or 2014. A 3D mock-up of the HTC One 2 is making its way around the internet today, thanks to PunkPanda and first spotted over on SlashGear.

The mock-up is apparently based on specs leaked to PunkPanda from someone who works at HTC. The 3D model looks a lot like the HTC One, stylistically. It’s bigger, with a 5-inch screen compared to the HTC One’s 4.7-inch display. The display resolution on the One 2 is expected to be 1920 x 1080, which means that the resolution is the same as the current One but the pixel density would drop to 441ppi. That’s less than the One’s 468ppi, but the difference is negligible. Also rumored is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 SoC, which means the device would be incredibly fast and would support 4K video. That’s no guarantee that HTC will include 4K video capabilities, but the possibility is there.

The 3D mock-up has HTC’s patented BoomSound speakers on the front of the device, and what looks like space on the back for a double camera flash. The camera is rumored to be the same 4-megapixel UltraPixel camera that is shipping on current HTC devices. The front-facing camera should be a 2.1-megapixel shooter. The HTC insider mentions that the One 2 will come with 16 GB of on-board storage, with a microSD card slot for expansion. We imagine that there will also be a 32 GB variant. The One 2 should run Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box according to other leaks.

The HTC One 2 could be announced at MWC next February, if HTC follows its previous announcement history. The HTC One was announced last February at dual press events held in New York City and London.
