Another Samsung leak has finally become official – the Galaxy Grand Neo, or “Lite” as it was originally called by the media. It arrived with little or no fanfare, but Samsung now has it officially listed on their website, although exact details as to where it will be sold or its availability are still sketchy. The Galaxy Grand series is all about size and certainly not about specifications, and the Galaxy Grand Neo will not disappoint in those categories, just maybe the buyers.
The Grand Neo comes with a 5-inch TFT 800 x 480 (WVGA) display, which means only 186 pixels per inch (PPI). It is running a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage, but does have a microSD slot for adding up to 64GB of storage. The main camera is 5MP with LED flash and autofocus, while the front-facing camera (FFC) is of the VGA variety. The battery is 2,100mAh and connectivity wise it has 21 Mbps HSPA+, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, and GPS, with no 4G being offered. Samsung’s own website does not list the version of Android that the Grand Neo is running, but the Dutch website, belsimpel is showing it at Android 4.2, which would probably be correct for a device of this caliber. It is charging 260 Euros, or approximately US$355 for the SIM-free version.
Samsung is advertising the Galaxy Grand Neo, with its larger screen, as a great multimedia device, as well as for browsing the web, and pushing it as an exciting gaming device. The Grand Neo is also a good social media device to show-off your pictures or to share them on the web.
The device does support Samsung’s multi-window function so the user can open and run two apps at the same time. It also supports Pop up Play, One-Handed Operations mode, and the Dual SIM allows you to keep your personal and business life separate by allowing two different phone numbers on your Grand Neo.
The website also claims that you can choose from the classic White or Black, or to be “bold and express yourself with Orange or Lime Green. Styled to be as unique and individual as yourself.” So more colors must be on the way as more and more manufacturers are opting for the young and vibrant colors to attract the younger consumers.
