Google Names Ruth Porat as new CFO

Today, Google announced that Ruth Porat will be the new Chief Financial Officer for the company. She is currently serving as CFO for Morgan Stanley. Ruth has been a part of Morgan Stanley since 1987, and has played several key roles in the company. She has been Vice Chairman of Investment Banking, Global Head of the Financial Institutions Group, and co-Head of Technology Investment Banking. Not to mention her current role as Chief Financial Officer. Ruth has also been the lead banker on numerous milestone technology financial rounds. This includes Amazon, eBay, Netscape, Priceline, Verisign, just to name a few. As CFO, Ruth helped Morgan Stanley improve resource optimization across different businesses through better capital and funding allocation as well as expense reductions.

Porat graduated from Stanford University with a B.A in Economics & International Relations. She also has an M.B.A  with distinction from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and a M.Sc., from the London School of Economics. Additionally, she is Vice Chair of the Stanford University Board of Trustees, as well as a member of the U.S. Treasury’s Borrowing Advisory Committee, a Board Director at The Council on Foreign Relations, and a member of the Advisory Council of the Hutchins Center on Fiscal and Monetary Policy at the Brookings Institution.

Beginning May 26th, Ruth Porat will begin her role as CFO at Google, and report to Google’s CEO and Co-Founder, Larry Page.

Looks like Google got a great candidate for their new Chief Financial Officer. Obviously Ruth Porat has the credentials to be the Chief Financial Officer for one of the largest companies in the US, Google.
