Motorola Drops Off-Contract Moto X Price To $299.99

There has been a number of deals going around lately and some of them have been for some really sought after devices too. For instance, a couple of weeks ago saw Motorola launch a deal on their popular Moto 360 smartwatch. The deal saw the smartwatch being dropped by $100, meaning those interested could pick one up for as low as $149.99. That deal run from the end of May and up until last week. Not to mention, the Nexus 6 also saw a price drop recently bringing the cost of the device down to only $499 for the off-contract version.

Well, it now seems that it is the turn of the Moto X. The company has announced today that they are offering another deal on the Moto X (2nd Gen). In terms of the deal, Motorola are dropping the price of the Moto X (2nd Gen) down to $299.99. Of course, this is just the starting price as the device does come with a number of customizations that can be added and does inevitably increase the price. That said, if you are in the market for a new smartphone, then this might be worth considering. There are some caveats though. The reason for the price drop, according to Motorola (source link below), is to celebrate the popularity of off-contract smartphones. As such, Motorola is offering users a 30-day window where they can pick up the Moto X and decide if it is for them. If they do not like it they can simply return it with no hard feelings (and more importantly, no charges). At the point of purchase, the Moto X will cost $349.99 and once the customer decides to keep the phone (after the test-run period) they will be able to claim a $50 rebate, bringing the total down to $299.99. One positive is that the deal includes the option to customize the device using Moto Maker. Not to mention, if it the design that you do not like (after the trial period) you can opt for a free do-over and try again. So all-in-all not a bad deal.

If you need a quick recap on what is on offer, the Moto X (2nd Gen) comes equipped with a 5.2-inch display with a 1920 x 1080p resolution. Inside, the Moto X comes loaded with 2GB RAM and powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor (clocking at 2.5 GHz). Additional features on offer include a 13-megapixel rear facing camera coupled with a 2-megapixel front facing option and a 2,300mAh battery. In terms of the battery, 2,300mAh might not sound a lot but it is worth remembering that you can take advantage of Turbo Charging for much quicker charging of the Moto X.
