If you’ve needed any more proof that India is one of the fastest growing emerging markets on the planet, if not the fastest growing, Motorola is giving out subtle yet obvious hints that they’re likely going to be opening up the Moto Maker website to the Indian market in the near future, something which they would only do if they felt India was a market worth tapping of such a service. Moto Maker is Motorola’s landing page for designing and customizing things like the Moto X and the Moto 360 smartwatch, but it isn’t available everywhere where Motorola devices are sold. This has been true for India and still is to this very day. Early morning June 13th however, Motorola’s India Twitter account dropped a couple tweets which suggest Moto Maker will come to India.
The tweets of course don’t officially confirm anything of the sort, but Motorola is being as obvious as they possibly can without actually giving out the details prior to when they’ve likely planned an announcement which is to be tomorrow at some point as depicted in their tweets, stating “You’re about to experience a sea of choices. Find out how on June 15th. What will you choose?” Another tweet states “Choice has a blueprint. And you’re about to create it. Find out how June 15th.” Twice Motorola references tomorrow’s date, so it’s a safe bet that at some point tomorrow they’ll be announcing something for the Indian market.
Right now there are only a handful of markets where Moto Maker exists, with the most recent being China as of May 28th. Moto Maker is also live in the U.S. and Mexico, the UK, Germany, and France, and is still waiting to launch in Canada. What all will be there for Indian consumers should Moto Maker open up tomorrow or sometime in the near future is still unknown at this time. Should Motorola open up Moto Maker to India it could also be tomorrow or it could be further out with tomorrow just being an announcement that the service is coming. With Motorola launching Moto Maker in China at the end of last month, and now seemingly India in the near future, it begs the question of where Motorola will take the customization tool to next as part of their continued expansion.
