Rovio’s Angry Birds is still a smash hit franchise even after many multiple variations on the game. The most recent Angry Birds title was Angry Birds 2 which launched earlier this Summer for Android, and while it kept the free to play model with optional IAP’s, it brought the actual gameplay back to basics to model more of the original game but with improved graphics and a much more polished visual style, helping it reach 20 million downloads within the first week of its release. Aside from the games, Rovio has also had an Angry Birds movie in the works for some time now, having been announced quite a while back, but there hasn’t been much in the way of what the movie would actually look like until today.
As of earlier this morning Rovio officially released the very first teaser trailer for the upcoming Angry Birds film which they’re partnering with Sony Pictures to make, which surprisingly comes in at just over two and a half minutes in length. Normal teaser trailers often tend to be shorter than that. Those details aside, if you’re an Angry Birds fan this is likely something you’ll want to set aside a few minutes for and take look at. Based on the trailer the overall theme of the movie seems to follow quite nicely along the lines of the game’s comedy, and with Sony Pictures on board it shouldn’t be a surprise to see a few A-list actors and actresses like Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph, Danny Mcbride, and Peter Dinklage.
Right now there is no exact release date for the film, but the trailer does reveal a time frame for when the film’s launch in theaters is expected to hit. According to those details the movie should be making its way to theaters sometime in the Summer of 2016, and as long as there are no major setbacks for Rovio or the film’s studio, everything should stay on target. Even if you aren’t an Angry Birds fan at all, the film looks like good fun and anyone who enjoys the 3D animated films similar to those from Pixar should keep an eye on this. It’s bound to be a hit with kids too, and if you absolutely love Angry Birds, you won’t want to miss it.
