We’ve been talking about Android 6.0 Marshmallow since Google I/O earlier this year. The company has initially teased the new version of Android as ‘Android M’, and has revealed a couple of weeks ago that the update will be officially called Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The Mountain View giant has officially released this update with the release of new Nexus devices a week ago. Both the LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6P ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow pre-installed, and it was just a matter of time before we get some info regarding Marshmallow update for Android One devices.
According to a newly leaked screenshot from the Spice Dream Uno Android One device, the update process has started. As you all now, Google has announced a number of Android One devices since last year. These budget devices have been released all over the world, and are running stock Android on them. We still don’t have any official confirmation from Google as far as this is concerned, but if Spice Dream Uno got the update, other Android One phones will surely follow soon enough. This update is 337.9MB big, and according to an additional piece of info, it will be 338.1MB in size for particular Android One devices.
Google has started rolling out Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to Nexus 5, 7 (2013) and 9 devices yesterday, so this Android One news is kind of great actually. Android One devices do run stock Android, but until now, it took Google a while to start updating them, and it seems like they’ve started receiving this update right along Nexus devices. Keep in mind that this update is rolling out in stages, as it’s the case with Nexus devices as well, so it might take a while before you get it on your devices. We’re still waiting for Google to release some sort of an official info regarding all this, but either way, these are great news. Chances are all Android One device have started getting the update, but we cannot confirm that at the moment, and the report didn’t shed any light on this matter either.
