Asus has managed to sell 20.5 million smartphones in 2015, and they’re aiming to increase that number to 30 million this year. If you take into consideration that Asus managed to sell ‘only’ 8.5 million units in 2014, we can say that 2015 was quite successful for the company. Their ZenFone devices are quite popular, and we are really interested to see what will the upcoming ZenFone 3 look like, and what specs will it sport.
While we’re waiting for Asus to unveil the ZenFone 3, the company has released a new model of the ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition. Now, keep in mind that this device isn’t exactly new, the first ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition handset was introduced back in November, and this new version brings slight improvements in the SoC department. The handset introduced back in November shipped with Intel’s Atom Z3580 quad-core SoC clocked at 2.3GHz, and this new variant comes with Intel’s Atom Z3590 quad-core processor, which runs at 2.5GHz. Now, this handset also packs in 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM, and 128GB of internal storage, while you can further expand it up to an additional 128GB. This handset features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) IPS display up front, and a 3,000mAh non-removable battery is also a part of the package. The 13-megapixel shooter is placed on the back of this phone, and a 5-megapixel snapper can be found up front. The device measures 152.5 x 77.2 x 10.9mm, while it weighs 170 grams, in case you were wondering. As far as software is concerned, the ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition ships with Android 5.0 Lollipop, and on top of it you’ll find Asus’ ZenUI skin.
The ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition will ship in Carbon Night and Drift Silver color options, though keep in mind that the phone’s back covers are actually replaceable, so you’ll be able to customize your device even after you buy it.
