Mobile payments may not yet be the main form of payment for everyone, but using your device to purchase things when you’re out and about shopping is arguably simpler than having to pull out your wallet and proceed to pay for things like you’re used to. For mobile payments to work, of course, your bank has to first support the option that you’re using. If you’re a Samsung device owner, Samsung Pay is your jam and today Samsung has just turned up the volume by adding support for more banks as well as adding membership cards, and integrating a section into the app that shows users promotions and news.
When it comes to new bank support, there is a mix of new banks and new credit unions which can now be used via the app. This includes banks like California Bank & Trust, Bank & Trust Company, First Electronic Bank, and Zions Bank, and credit unions such as First Community Credit Union, Leaders Credit Union, 1st United Credit Union, and others. In total, there are 38 new banks and credit unions that have been added to the support list, and if you already have Samsung Pay installed on your device, the full list of banks and credit unions will be displayed following the update to the latest version. This follows the 39 new banks and credit unions that gained support for Samsung Pay just earlier this month.
If your bank was already supported and you were waiting on support for loyalty and rewards cards, this version update introduces support for both alongside gift cards which were added in the last app update, and there’s a separate tab for them as well. If you have some membership cards you want to add into the app, there are a couple ways to do so, including manual entry of the card number, and you can also scan the barcode if you’d rather bypass tapping any buttons. Samsung has also added the option to include photos of the front and back of the card if needed. In addition to support for the new banks as well as membership cards, Samsung Pay users now have a new section within the app where they can see any current promotions happening with the service.
