HMD Global is likely working on a new budget smartphone. A new Nokia smartphone with the model number TA-1340 recently listed on the US FCC website. It will reportedly launch as Nokia 5.4 in the next couple of weeks. Notably, the company launched the Nokia 5.3 only a few months ago.
While the company hasn’t mentioned any details of this upcoming Nokia smartphone, the FCC listing reveals several key details. The renders from the user manual confirm the Nokia 5.4 to come with a punch-hole display on the front. There is a larger circular camera module on the rear featuring quad-camera sensors.
Nokia 5.4 to launch with punch-hole display and quad rear cameras
It comes with a 4,000mAh battery and uses a USB Type-C port for charging. As of now, the listing doesn’t include any other specifications of the device. Just beneath the quad-camera setup is the rear-facing fingerprint scanner. The punch-hole cut-out for accommodating the selfie camera can be spotted in the top left corner of the display.
The device also comes with a 3.5mm audio jack for connecting wired headsets and earphones. As seen on other smartphones, the Nokia branding is present on the front and back. The power button and volume rocker are located on the right edge of the device. There is also a dedicated button on the left side for quickly accessing Google Assistant.
The device will offer a clean Android experience
Moreover, the Nokia 5.4 also comes with a triple card slot for using two nano-SIM cards and one MicroSD card, all at the same time. Going by the specs of its predecessor, the new Nokia 5.4 is expected to sport an HD+ display. Under the hood, it should have a Snapdragon 600-series chipset with no 5G support.
Unlike most other budget smartphones available in the market, Nokia smartphones will offer a close to stock Android experience with no ads or bloatware. While the device is expected to come with Android 10 out of the box, the company may even surprise everyone by offering the latest version of Android.
Apart from replacing the waterdrop notch with a punch-hole cut-out, the rest of the design looks very much similar to the previously launched Nokia 5.3. Considering it to be a budget smartphone, the Nokia 5.4 will come with a polycarbonate body.
While there was no official announcement of the launch of this new budget Nokia smartphone, the leaks suggest it will happen in the next few weeks, so stay tuned!
