Motorola Edge S With Snapdragon 8-Series SoC Teased

After failing to create a major buzz in the smartphone market in 2020, Motorola has geared up to change that this year. As per an official source, Motorola is set to launch Motorola Edge S in China soon.

Motorola launched a bunch of cheap Android phones along with a couple of flagships in 2020. Good thing is that the company already has a handful of devices ready for launch on January 14.

Apparently, four Motorola devices namely, Motorola One 5G Ace, Moto G Stylus, Moto G Play, and Moto G Power are all set to launch on January 14, 2021, at different price points.

Now, Chen Jin, who is the General Manager of Lenovo China’s Mobile phone business, has teased the upcoming Motorola Edge S smartphone. Notably, he used the Motorola Edge S device to post from his Weibo account.

Additionally, the Weibo post also confirms that the phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8-series chipset. It is expected to be the Snapdragon 888, which is the latest flagship SoC from Qualcomm.

However, taking into consideration Motorola’s history, it could be last year’s Snapdragon 865 chipset as well. Whatever it may be, the phone is touted to be “coming soon” in China.

As per GM Chen Jin, Motorola Edge S will be an entirely new series of smartphones

While the company has (most of the time) tried to revive its older series, Chen has stated that Motorola Edge S will bring an entirely new series for Motorola smartphones.

Not much is known about the device so far, and the rumor mill is still quiet about Edge S. Our guess is that it could be the long-rumored Motorola Nio (model number XT2125).

For the unaware, Motorola Nio (XT2125) was spotted on a Geekbench listing. The phone was spotted with 8GB of RAM, which was coupled with a Snapdragon 865+ processor.

So, the new teased smartphone could be the Motorola Nio. But with no official confirmation, you should take this piece of information with a pinch of salt.

The device has been tipped to come with a 6.7-inch display with an FHD+ resolution display. The display will be a 90HZ high refresh rate panel. It is also rumored to pack a 64MP main sensor, which will be joined by a 16MP ultrawide and 2MP depth sensor.

Along with this, several leaks about Motorola Capri and Capri Plus have also surfaced on the internet. These might be the new mid-range offerings from the company.

The standard Motorola Capri is tipped to come with a 60Hz display, while the Capri Plus will have a 90Hz display. The Motorola Capri is also rumored to come with a large battery.
