OnePlus has released a few pairs of truly wireless earbuds over the past few years. And each time, they looked very similar to what Apple offers with the AirPods. And now with the new OnePlus Buds Pro, they are even closer to the AirPods Pro than ever before. The design does look pretty nice, but it’s clear where OnePlus got their inspiration from.
The new OnePlus Buds Pro are the first pair of truly wireless earbuds from OnePlus to feature Active Noise Cancellation or ANC. The company is calling it “Smart” ANC, which is because they will try to block out environmental noise. As well as voices nearby. So you can be immersed in your music or podcasts. It uses a 3-microphone setup that “actively filters out noise levels of up to 40dB”. That is different from the competitors, which use a fixed level.
Battery life on the new OnePlus Buds Pro is also fairly decent. You’ll get around five hours of continuous playback here. And with the charging case, that bumps up to 38 hours of total battery life. The charging case does have Warp Charge, allowing you to get about 10 hours of battery life from around 10 minutes of charge time.
How much will the OnePlus Buds Pro cost?
Unlike the Nord 2 5G that was also announced today, the OnePlus Buds Pro are coming to the US. OnePlus says that they will cost $149 and be available on September 1. That’s quite the turnaround time for OnePlus. Almost a month and a half from announcement to availability.
The OnePlus Buds Pro are going to come in matte black, and a white-silver model. Along with matching cases. They do look pretty slick, and who doesn’t love some matte black action. We’ll have to wait and see if the OnePlus Buds Pro live up to the hype.
