Acer is coming on hot this year with a range of new gaming products in its longstanding Predator line, including the X45 and X27U gaming monitors and two new gaming laptops – the Predator Helios 16 and Predator Helios 18. The company announced the new gaming lineup at CES 2023. This seems to be the year of 18-inch gaming laptops, as Alienware announced the m18 earlier this morning.
While the two new Predator laptops may not be as powerful as the Alienware m18, they promise some great performance with the upgrades they offer. Acer also says they come with a “completely new design” in addition to upgraded thermals, Inte 13th Gen CPUs, and up to an NVIDIA RTX 4080 GPU.
RAM can go up to 32GB and storage can go up to 2TB. So you’re looking at plenty of both. As for displays, the Predator Helios 16 comes with three options. A 2560 x 1600 display with either 165Hz or 240Hz refresh rates, or a Mini LED display with a 250Hz refresh rate. The Predator Helios 18 will come with four options. This includes the three offered on the Predator Helios 16, as well as a 1920 x 1200 resolution display at 165Hz.
Both laptops offer Mini LED backlit keyboards, dual custom engineered 5th Gen AeroBlade 3D metal fans to help with cooling, a matte black chassis with thinner bezels, and “several ports located on the back of the laptop.” The Predator Helios 16 will launch first, coming in March starting at $1,649, and the Predator Helios 18 launches in April starting at $1,699.
Acer will launch the Predator X45 and X27U in Q2
OLED gaming monitors offer numerous advantages to gamers, including excellent brightness and color contrast. Acer has two new options for gamers coming this year with the X45 and the X27U. The Acer Predator X45 is a 45-inch Ultrawide monitor with an 800R curve and a 3440 x 1440 resolution, and support for 98.5% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. It also has support for DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0, while promising a peak brightness of 1000 nits.
The X27U is a flat panel monitor with a 2560 x 1440 resolution, in addition to the same peak brightness and color gamut coverage. Both monitors come with a 240Hz refresh rate as well. While the monitors won’t launch until sometime in the second quarter, Acer did announce pricing. The X45 will be $1,699 and the X27U will be $1,099. You can find out more about the monitors and laptops in Acer’s official post.
