Today, marks the end of CES 2014. It’s been a pretty crazy week. We’ve seen all kinds of new devices get announced, as well as plenty of wearables. Along with some stuff that will probably never make it to market. As far as wearables go, we saw some connected socks, the LG Lifeband Touch, the Pebble Steel, Sony’s Smartwear Core, and much more. We even saw Archos announce a few things. As well as Hisense announce the Pulse Pro, a phablet and they talked about some new Smart TVs.
Lenovo announced a boat loadof devices too. A couple of phones, a 19.5-inch Android “tablet” and more. While ASUS announced the Padfone X which is coming to AT&T, along with the ZenFone 4, 5, and 6. There’s also the Transformer Book Duet, and the Padfone Mini that ASUS announced this week.
As far as carriers go, T-Mobile went ahead and unveiled Uncarrier 4, as well as their Q4 2013 numbers which look pretty good. They also talked about the rumors about Sprint looking to buy them, but left us with more questions than answers. Then AT&T announced they will be rolling out HD Voice this year, and the Padfone X is first to support it. Along with 4G LTE making it’s way into 2015 models from Chevrolet. AT&T also announced Sponsored data this week. While Sprint announced their new Framily plans, which is pretty confusing.
Now let’s take a look at Samsung. They announced four new tablets. The Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2, Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1, and Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4. All with pretty decent specs, in fact these are probably some of the best tablets we’ve seen in a while from Samsung. They also showed off some TV’s, and the new Galaxy Camera 2.
LG announced Homechat, which is pretty cool that your washer can text you. They also announced that the LG G Flex will be heading to T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T in either Q1 or Q2 of this year. In addition to the LG Lifeband Touch, which looks really cool.
Looking at some of the smaller OEMs, BLU also announced a few new devices. As well as Sony announcing the Xperia Z1s, and Z1 Compact. Polaroid announced their Socialmatic camera which will be landing on store shelves in the fall of this year. Sol Republic announced their Relays In-Ear buds which come in a variety of colors. ZTE announced their own phablet as well as an awkward projector hotspot device, and a few other devices.
Finally, NVIDIA announced the Tegra k1 processor. Which is the successor to the Tegra 4. It’s a pretty awesome processor with over 192 cores inside, and is a 64-bit chip. Which is pretty insane. While we’re talking processors, Qualcomm also announced their Snapdragon 602A, the Snapdragon 802, and Snapdragon 605 processor. As well as lowering the price of their own smartwatch.
That’s about it from this year’s CES in Las Vegas. Lots of goodies came out of the show this year. We’ll need to keep our eye on these companies for release dates for these gadgets and goodies, but as we’ve seen in the past. Just because stuff gets demoed and announced at CES, doesn’t mean it’ll make it to the public.
