IFA has just kicked off its second day and while most of the big announcements happened during Day 1, there were still some products announced today as well as plenty of devices to be displayed on the show floor of the event. Intel which is steeped in the computing industry and has its products in many different devices across multiple platforms, today announced their brand new Atom Z3590 SoC aimed at high-end mobile devices. Samsung also had their press conference today where they announced a new device for sleep tracking called SleepSense, as well as the 2.0 version of their smart connected home setup, the SmartThings Hub 2.0. Samsung also introduced a new feature for Galaxy devices called CarMode that uses the Mirrorlink technology inside of vehicles that support Mirrorlink, enabling users with Galaxy devices to access specific features via a simpler interface while driving.
A new mobile payment app was showcased today which aims to make accepting mobile payments easier. Similar to something like Square, the new app called Flint allows users to scan credit and debit cards with their phone camera using the Flint app instead of having to swipe it through a reader. LG is said to also be announcing a new smartwatch later this month, and various other devices were announced like the new 360-degree camera from Ricoh. While Samsung’s Gear S2 was officially announced before today, what they didn’t mention at the time was that it will support non-Samsung phones.
