Google’s official event for some tasty new products was today, and sure enough Google unveiled two new Nexus smartphones including the LG-made Nexus 5X, and the Huawei-made Nexus 6P, both intended as reboots of previous model devices, the 5X being made by the same OEM who made the original Nexus 5 back in 2013. Alongside the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P smartphones, Google also announced a couple more products for consumers to salivate over, one of which was the all-new Chromecast device coming in with a handful of notable improvements, a new design and form factor, and all for the same low cost as the original Chromecast: Just $35.
The last product Google unveiled today was the Pixel C, Google’s take on the tablet running Android 6.0 Marshmallow (instead of ChromeOS, like the original and second-gen Pixel) which carried the design aspects of the Pixel line instead of something like the Nexus 9. It also comes with a keyboard dock that connects to the device magnetically and can be used at different angles for comfort and viewing, or the tablet can be flipped over and connected it to it so the keyboard is covered to be used as simply a touchscreen tablet. It’s already being hailed by some as Google’s answer to the Microsoft Surface Pro tablets, although that might be a term better suited had it been running Google’s actual computer operating system. Google also discussed updates to the Chromecast app to coincide with the launch of the device. If you happened to miss anything from the event earlier today, you can catch it all in our wrap-up with links to everything below.
